Stirchley and Brookside Parish Council have joined the water refill revolution; installing a water refill station in the Sambrook Centre, Stirchley. Visitors to the centre can refill their water bottles for free with cold, filtered water from the latest water cooler supplied by Wenlock Spring.

Over 7 billion plastic water bottles are used each year in the UK, making up 26% of total plastic packaging; one third of the pollution in the sea is made up of plastic bottles.

Jackie Loveridge, Chair of Stirchley and Brookside Parish Council said ‘we are proud to be able join the campaign to reduce the amount of single use plastic and contribute to promoting the health benefits of drinking water.   ’

To celebrate the Council have commissioned a limited number of water bottles.  These are available for local residents for a suggested minimum donation of £2 which will go to the charity Water Aid.
