Pride in your Community – Improvements in your area

We will shortly be working in your area as part of our ‘Pride in Your Community’ investment programme. Over the next three years an additional £45 million will be invested into improving the Borough’s roads, pavements, street lights and structures.  This includes the installation of energy efficient streetlights and road signs, a programme of road lining improvement as well as additional investment in repairing local roads and paths and environmental maintenance.

Further to my email of the 11th March regarding the infilling of 3 underpasses on Brookside Avenue. Work is now scheduled to commence  at underpass B3 on the 30th May. Both ends of the underpass will be blocked off and the structure filled with foam concrete. The embankments to either side will be filled with a compacted granular material and top soiled (incl grass seeding) to tie in to existing ground levels and footpaths realigned away from the structure. The vehicle restraint system (parapets & safety barriers) will be removed and the existing edge beam will be made good.

The contractor for the works will be Fitzgerald’s and is scheduled to last approximately 4 weeks. 4 way lights  will be in operation for part of the works to enable the removal of the VRS system.
